The old hip joint would not rotate. This is why the metal of the femoral head snapped. I could not even get the old joint to rotate with crescent wrench or visegrips. I removed the four screws of the old hip joint but still could not remove it from the body. But at least now the hip joint rotated. I did not want to dig any deeper or pull any harder for fear of turning this into a Frankenstein project.
