The spine joint can be accessed from the side.

There's not much room to work here. To get at the back nut I'll need to get a 7/16 inch crowsfoot on a long extention or a short 7/16 inch combination wrench. I tried to slide a standard length combination wrench up along the spine, but the foam core in the chest prevented it from sliding up far enough. Tomorrow I go to the tool store.
