Make sure to thoroughly clean the inside of the cut with a solvent. Cleaning with soap and water is not enough. You must use some sort of solvent and cloth or paper that will not leave a residue. Acetone, rubbing alcohol, or cellulose thinners with a lint free towel or paper towel will work. Be sure to allow 5 to 10 minutes for any solvents that may have absorbed into the silicone to evaporate back out.
