Right Hip Joint Exposed (the feet are to the right). The white PVC is her right femur. The black cap on the proximal end of the femur is supposed to have two metal connecting pieces attached to it. This is a 2010 doll, body 6. The hip joint is a different design than what I've seen in previous hip repair photos.

The metal still fatigued and broke/snapped in half ??? Was the joint difficult to move before breaking ? Did you have ant advanced warning of this occurring ?

I did not notice any decrease of joint mobility before the break, or hear any instant noises of the break. I suspect that the area was somehow pinched, with the metal stressed to the point of breaking (but remained loosely in place). When I noticed the extreme looseness of the hip movement, I thought that the hip was merely a dislocated hip joint because I did not know of any sudden traumatic events.
